Kate's Closet Catalog

Once I realized that half my computer tabs were open to online shopping websites and more than half of the clothes in my closet were going unworn, I knew something had to be done. I needed to organize my closet. But not the regular kind of organizing with folded tees, color-coded dresses, and a donation pile, which I also thoroughly enjoy. This time, I was determined to be much more purposeful. I decided to catalog my closet.

I did this with three primary goals in mind:

  1. Discover my personal style, and make it easier to dress that way in a hurry.

  2. Become more environmentally conscious and accountable.

  3. Start shopping more intentionally and economically.

I kept track of which brands I tended to favor, and I tried to style the same piece multiple ways. I ended up with over 100 unique outfits.

Here are a few of the looks:

This project helped me determine which items I ought to sell, donate or recycle, and which pieces make me feel especially like myself. I learned how to style clothes and accessories in ways that make me feel confident and comfortable. Now, every morning, I check the weather and refer to my Closet Catalog to select a look for the day ahead!
